Nobody can ignore the continuing explosion of the Hispanic population in the United States. According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates as of July 1, 2009, Hispanics comprise 15.8 percent of the total population of the U.S., making it both the largest and the fastest growing minority group. While the group’s buying power reached $951 billion in 2008, up from $212 billion in 1990, it is projected to top nearly $1.4 trillion by 2013. In 2008, this 349% increase represented again far greater than the 151% increase in all consumers’ buying power and, again, tops all minority groups.
